I told my obnoxious cousin that I would make him something this week because I didn’t come to his birthday dinner and I didn’t get him a present. (And although he is pretty unbearable, he’s always given me nice presents for birthday and christmas)
We made a deal that if i didn’t meet my promise, i would have to bow down to him upon his entrance into a room and refer to him as “Master Michael”. To avert this crisis, I’ve made him this poster:
I’m not sure why this picture keeps turning out sideways, ugh so annoying.
So, I told my boss about my seal encounter and she said some are dangerous :o
Which I don’t doubt too much. I mean, how I see it: Nature is always unpredictable. Or to be more specific, wild animals. So I went on Google to find out how dangerous seals can actually be. There was a forum regarding the matter, and some responses were pretty funny:
"I don’t know about getting bit… However, if you are wearing a wetsuit, you might look like some hot seal. They may want to mate with you."
…That just might have been the case with me! ;D
"I’d worry more about Otters…"
"Not to worry, 38 years surfing, no problems with seals, sharks or OTTERS!!!"
"Yeah dont worry about them. They will only get aggressive if provoked or cornered.
But do watch out if you ever happen to be surfing in the antarctic. There are leopard seals there and they are known to act agressively towards human presence.”
"Don’t be freaked… They are nothing to worry about. I’d be more worried of a stray dog swimming out and biting me then a seal."
Okay, not really. I went earlier today though! The surf was good :) I gave lessons to Carrie. Also, I learned that I need to get over having a wave going over my face. The waters are getting warmer! I love it.
And I need to get a full wetsuit ASAP or else I will fashion a horrible tan-line all summer. It’s already starting to set in :( -
OH! and Carrie spotted a couple vultures nearby, so we checked it out and it ended up being a dead, headless seal :( I hope it wasn’t my friend from Wednesday. -
Hm………… don’t think I’d utilize it though. I wonder how much it is :3
I’m using this as a reply to your post because Tumblr wouldn’t let me write a long reply…. and it doesnt scroll, etc.
-OMGGGG, if i had time today (seeing how its my free day) i was going to buy JUST THAT from downtown, i know the place the paul mitchel people bought their henna supplies from. I wanted to buy some for myself and make some kind of elaborate designs on my stomach around my belly button, or chinese characters down my leg, or elaborate foot designs. should i get it and bring some to you?
Yeah, I cannot tell you the amount of times my mom has actually said: “It’s different for you, you’re a girl” or “You can’t/shouldn’t be doing those things because you’re a girl.. it’s different.” Hm. I hear ya sista.
It is an absolute gorgeous day for surfing today! It’s a shame the winds in SB are so high though, it made the surf very choppy and therefore I did not catch any waves. Within ten minutes I was blown so far away from the spot where I set up, I decided to call it quits. It was unfortunate because the water was so nice, I wasn’t freezing my ass off. :( Poo! I want to successfully improve, summer better come with some nice waves! :)
After surfing… It was just TOO windy! -
ANYWAY. Something out in the ocean today made up for the fact that I didn’t catch any waves… and that was me coming face to face with a seal! We were about five or six feet away from each other, when my peripherals caught sight of it, I thought it was a person swimming in the ocean dressed in a full wetsuit. (the kind that you pull over your head) I noticed it was staring at me so I looked over and it finally registered.. It was a seal! It was ‘standing’ erect in the water and it was just looking at me, the seal was probably just as curious as I was. We stood there for at least eight or ten seconds just looking at each other in disbelief. Once it swam off, I couldn’t stop laughing because I just had a staring contest with a seal! It was awesome!! :)
To give you a better idea of what the seal was doing, here’s a picture that features just that. (It looked about the same, but definitely darker) -
